Newcastle teen Finley Brock, 18, has been named Apprentice of the Year at the annual GTG Apprentice Celebration.
He collected the award, which is the highest accolade presented at the ceremony, at GTG Training’s Glasgow centre earlier this month. The award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated commitment, skill development and contribution.
Brock said: “I wasn’t expecting it at all! I was with my mum, Nicola, and we were both buzzing when my name was called.
“I’ve loved my three years at GTG. It’s really helped me grow as a person and become more confident and independent. If anyone is thinking about an apprenticeship, then I’d say don’t hesitate and go for it!”
Brock was on a Light Vehicle Technician course. He is based at Arnold Clark Shiremoor Motorstore / MG / BYD / Vanstore.
Billy Hammond, GTG’s Managing Director, said: “Congratulations to Finley! We are incredibly proud of everything he has achieved, as well as every apprentice who has walked through our doors and completed their training.
“We’re delighted to celebrate our apprentices and the future of the automative industry with this terrific event. We look forward to watching each graduate thrive and apply what they’ve learned at GTG to their future roles and beyond.”
With centres in Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Wolverhampton, GTG Training offers apprenticeships across various disciplines, including automotive, engineering, logistics, and business services.
