Nissan drivers are the most loyal in the UK, with 57% of drivers renewing with the brand when choosing another car, according to Leasing Options.
Volkswagen took second place with 45%, followed by Toyota (42%).
Mike Thompson, COO at Leasing Options, said: “Brand loyalty in the automotive world is hard-won, especially in today’s market where drivers have more choice than ever – not just in terms of make and model, but also fuel type, tech features and overall driving experience.
“Nissan topping the list isn’t surprising. The brand has a strong reputation for producing reliable, well-equipped vehicles that deliver good value, particularly in the SUV segment where demand remains high.
“Models like the Qashqai and Juke are consistent performers, especially among families and commuters looking for comfort, economy and dependability.”
Cupra took fourth spot with 38%, followed by Vauxhall (35%), Skoda (34%), Land Rover (31%), Kia (30%), Seat (29%), and Tesla (28%).
Thompson said: “Volkswagen and Toyota also make sense in the top three. VW appeals to drivers who want a touch of refinement without breaking the bank, while Toyota’s reliability – especially with hybrid technology – keeps customers coming back.
“Interestingly, we’re also seeing growing loyalty for brands like Cupra, which signals that some drivers are moving away from safe, traditional choices in favour of something sportier and more distinctive. As electric vehicles become more mainstream, we expect to see shifts in loyalty patterns.
“Tesla is already on the list, and we may well see other EV-focused brands climbing the ranks in the next few years as drivers begin to ‘lock in’ to new ecosystems – whether that’s charging networks, app integrations or just a particular driving feel they come to trust.”
Some manufacturers have been struggling to maintain customer loyalty. Peugeot recorded just 9% loyalty, followed by Renault (10%), and Mini (11%).
