Chinese carmaker Chery is launch iCar in the UK in 2025, according to multiple sources.

It is avoiding a potential trademark conflict with Apple, which owns the iCar name, marketing it as iCaur outside China.

The initial offering from iCaur will include the V23, a compact electric SUV that made its debut in China last year.

The V23 features an all-wheel-drive system powered by two electric motors, delivering a combined output of 208 brake horsepower. It is equipped with an 82 kWh NMC battery, allowing for an impressive range of approximately 311 miles on a single charge.

Following the V23, iCaur plans to unveil the V25 SUV by the end of next year. This forthcoming model is notable for its range-extender electric vehicle (EV) drivetrain, featuring a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine designed to enhance driving range.

A smaller electric SUV, designated as the V21, is scheduled for introduction in 2027. This model aims to compete with the Jeep Avenger.

Additionally, plans for a larger SUV, termed the V29, are in the pipeline, although details regarding its potential release in the UK have yet to be confirmed.

During a recent presentation at the Shanghai Motor Show, Chery’s CEO, Su Jun, outlined ambitious growth plans for iCar, including the establishment of 2,000 showrooms across 100 countries within three years.

In addition to iCar, Chery is also introducing a brand called Lepas, which is aimed at competing with Dacia in the market.

Chery has been rolling out is Jaecoo and Omoda brands in the UK, attracting dealer groups of all sizes.
