Electric vehicles were singled out by the National Association of Motor Actions as needing ‘close attention as they fell -1.8% in June following a -2.8% decline in May.

It said Tesla volumes have remained high, but with a more limited impact than previously seen. Members continue to report strong retail interest in newer BEV and plug in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) models, particularly where range and specification meet buyer needs.

“The wholesale vehicle market continued to perform steadily through June, with conversion rates improving and pricing remaining relatively stable” said Paul Hill, spokesperson for NAMA.

“While there are still some areas requiring close attention, such as EV values, the wholesale market remains in good shape. NAMA members are seeing strong buyer demand for quality vehicles, and we expect this trend to continue into July.”

It said petrol and hybrid models continuing to perform strongly, down just -0.4% and -0.5% respectively and there was an overall average movement at -0.7%, above seasonal expectations

The light commercial vehicle (LCV) market remained consistent, with internal combustion engine (ICE) vans continuing to perform well.

While stock availability varied between members, well-graded commercial vehicles remained in strong demand. Battery-electric vans (BEVs) continue to present some challenges, but appetite is growing for newer, longer-range models.
